| French Alsatian brasserie with its own drafted beer and typical brasserie design; a little loud, so not your first choice for a date. There is an extended choice of beer and the choice of wine is great with a nice choice of wine mainly from France. The menu includes some typical French brasserie meal as well some regional specialty from the French Alsace region. When you arrive you will receive a warm French bread, one of the best I have tried so far in Chicago. The “Tarte Flambees” a typical plate from Alsace were unfortunately very disappointing and not very authentic. It seems that the American love onions, so instead of “Tarte Flambees” it should be rename “Onion Tarte Flambees”. Instead of the “Tarte Flambees”, I would advise you to try the “Fondue Savoyarde” , which you can easily share at 2. Then you can try a “Choucroute” the emblematic meal of Alsace. The “Choucroute” was very good and could compete with some of the one I have tried in France. You will enjoy a “knack” with real French mustard. There is also a very typical French brasserie meal, the “Steak Tartare”. This steak tartare is Ok, not fantastic but worth the try. It is far better than the one you can have at the “Ralf Lauren Brasserie”, which is awful. You can also try the “Quiche Lorraine”. The service is all right. Unless one time when they did not have their good bread anymore and replaced it by some toast! In summary, it is a good French restaurant with fair price, not a bargain but not too excessive I think. You will pay around $40 per person with tip and drink and will have done a very nice French dinner. |
